The special issue will receive abstract proposals on (but not limited to): Cross-national analyses of legal defense bails, sentences, appeals, etc; Institutionalization of legal defense in Latin America; Critiques of the due process frameworks and the persistence of inquisitorial characteristics; The economic costs of legal defense; The official results of public/private defense (administrative data); Levels of client satisfaction with public/private defenses and patterns of client satisfaction; Management model of public defense institutions; Theoretical developments regarding access to justice in Latin America.
